Why would I want to use FarmStream Fleet Manager?

FarmStream Fleet Manager provides more detailed vehicle utilization and sensor data using the FmX® or TMX-2050™ display and a wireless connection. There is no need for a DCM-300 modem when using the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution, but the DCM-300 can be used as a wireless connection..

Farming operations with several or more vehicles and hired operators may struggle to keep tabs on equipment and operator productivity—the Fleet Manager solution targets operations where managers are responsible for a staff of operators but cannot sit with each employee to monitor their performance and compliance.

What are the differences between the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution and the traditional Fleet Manager solution?

  • The FarmStream solution provides vehicle utilization data using the FmX or TMX-2050 (using the FmX Plus app) display. Utilization settings are configured in the FmX or TMX-2050 display instead of the Trimble Ag Software solution interface.
  • There is no need for a DCM-300 modem when using the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution.
  • The FarmStream Fleet Manager solution does not provide all of the alerts and vehicle sensor data found in the traditional Fleet Manager solution. For a detailed comparison, refer to the Feature Comparison Matrix.

How do I purchase the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution?

The FarmStream Fleet Manager solution can be purchased as part of a Trimble Ag Software Bundle or Vehicle Connection license.

The Vehicle Connection license is assigned to a vehicle in Fleet Manager.

Can I use both the FarmStream and traditional Fleet Manager solution on a vehicle at the same time?

No.

If a vehicle is associated with an FmX or TMX display that has the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution enabled, you cannot also associate it with a DCM-300 modem.

How can I tell if a vehicle is set up to use the FarmStream or traditional Fleet Manager solution?

In the Fleet Manager solution, go to the Edit Vehicles page. This page will show whether FarmStream has been enabled.

Where can I buy the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution?

On the Trimble Reseller store or Ag Marketplace. The part number and price for the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution (which is part of a Vehicle Connection license) is the same as for the traditional Fleet Manager solution.

Is the traditional Fleet Manager solution changing?

Yes.

With the release of the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution, you will no longer be able to use the productivity features of the traditional Fleet Manager solution with both the DCM-300 modem and the FmX or TMX display.

The productivity features of the traditional Fleet Manager solution will now be based on the DCM-300 modem and will not include information from the FmX or TMX display, for example, Delay Reasons.

Do I need to create a separate Trimble Ag Software account / organization for my FarmStream Fleet Manager vehicles?

No. You can use the same account and organization that you use for your traditional Fleet Manager vehicles.

What equipment do I need to be able to use the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution?

  • FmX integrated display or TMX-2050.
  • Cable P/N 86995-01 (Available January 2017 – or other cable, depending on the vehicle) to connect the display to the vehicle.
  • A WAN gateway device (Wi-Fi, Cellular, etc.) for communications, such as the DCM-300 or GX450 modem.

For more details and recommended hardware, refer to the FarmStream Fleet Manager setup guide.

Can I associate a vehicle with both a DCM-300 modem and an FmX or TMX display?

If you have not turned on the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution for an FmX or TMX display, you can assign a vehicle to both the DCM-300 modem and the FmX  or TMX display.

If you select an FmX or TMX display, this indicates which vehicle you want your Office Sync files to be associated with for that particular display.

On which Trimble displays is the FarmStream solution available?

Currently, the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution is available on the FmX display only. It is not available of the CFX-750™ or TMX-2050™ displays.

I am currently running the traditional Fleet Manager solution with a DCM-300 modem and FmX display. How can I change to the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution?

Trimble will allow conversions of a traditional Fleet Manager solution with time remaining on the service to a FarmStream Fleet Manager service on a case-by-case basis.

For more information, contact your regional sales manager.

What do I need to do on the FmX or TMX display to set up the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution?

To run the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution on the FmX or TMX display, you need the free Fleet Manager plugin.

For more information, refer to the FarmStream Fleet Manager Setup Guide.

Can a vehicle that is running the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution also use the Office Sync functionality?

Yes.

Can a vehicle running the FarmStream Fleet Manager solution also use the Vehicle Sync functionality?

The Vehicle Sync functionality requires a DCM-300 modem. The vehicle cannot use the Vehicle Sync functionality if no DCM-300 modem is installed.

Can I provision a GX450 modem in Fleet Manager?

No. There is no need to provision the GX450 modem in Fleet Manager, the modem is just a router for the display.

What version of firmware is required to run FarmStream?

Version 10.01 is required for the FmX and Version 4.3.1 is required for the TMX.
